Creative Car Care Tips

Keeping a car looking fresh off the lot inside and out is either the easiest thing in the world, or the hardest. The difference between the two is being proactive. These simple tips will help you stay ahead of the mess and keep your car shinning all summer long.

1. Keep a razor blade in your car. It's always a sad moment when you walk outside and see a bird has soiled your perfectly clean windshield. Luckily, scraping a razor blade across the surface of your the glass will clear up most of the mess. Keep the blade stored in a clearly marked cardboard or metal container within your glove-box for safety.

2. Use a plastic cereal container as a trash bin. Those tall and skinny Tupperware containers make excellent trash bins for cars! Just remove the lid, insert a small plastic bag, and seal the lid over it. There should be a small opening on top that you can put trash through and seal. The containers are made to be airtight, so your car won't smell, and will be mostly clutter-free!

3. Leave some charcoal in your car overnight. This tip sounds messy, but leaving an open container of charcoal in your car will help reduce any unpleasant odors. And the best part? When you're done you can use the same charcoal for a barbecue!

4. Use nail polish for scratches. If you happen to scratch your Mustang while parking in Norfolk (we've all been there) all you need to do is apply a little bit of nail polish as a temporary touch up. You can use the clear coating on the glass, and a matching shade on the car body. If you have a mustang, there is a line of nail polish that is made to match your car shade perfectly (if you have Race Red or other iconic colors, that is).
