2018 Ford Super Duty | Chesapeake, VA
The 2018 Ford Super Duty® trucks have the same reputation as the popular, heavy-duty Ford F-150. And just like the F-150, the Super Duty® body weight has been decreased with its new high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body structure—which it's the truck in its class to be built with it. Plus, the box frame and axles have received upgrades that make them stronger than the previous Super Duty® lineup.
These improvements allow the Super Duty® to achieve the highest payload and towing ratings in its class and greater weight-bearing capability. In fact, the maximum conventional towing capability is 21,000-pounds and the maximum payload capacity is 7,630-pounds. It also features stronger suspension and steering components that deliver more responsiveness and control during operation. And it comes standard with the AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ and Trailer Sway Control technology. Plus, you can even choose to add the available Trailer Reverse Guidance which enhances visibility for when you are backing up with a trailer.
2018 Ford Super Duty Available Features
This class-exclusive available feature allows you to attach and tie down cargo to the structurally reinforced box sides. Plus, there are four interface plates that you can configure to accommodate various accessories, such as storage bins or stowable loading ramps. And the available LED box lights make working at night much easier.
Remote Power Tailgate
Using the key fob, you can hands-free open and slowly lower the tailgate to a flat position. Plus, you can easily lock and unlock the tailgate just like you can with the rest of the truck. This makes loading and unloading more convenient.
Live-Drive Power Takeoff Provision with Mobile Mode
This feature is class-exclusive and can be equipped on either the gas- or diesel-powered Ford Super Duty® trucks. It features an output gear connected to the crankshaft, which powers a PTO when the engine is running. And multiple accessories can be used at the same time while the truck is stopped.
2018 Ford Super Duty Engine Options
There are two available engine options with the 2018 Ford Super Duty® trucks, a 6.2-Liter and a 6.7-Liter. The 6.2-Liter Flex-Fuel V8 engine delivers 385 horsepower and produces 430 pound-feet of torque, which is engineered to generate high torque at lower speeds. No other gas-powered, heavy-duty, full-size pickup truck matches its power output. Then, the 6.7-Liter Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel V8 engine option delivers best-in-class 450 horsepower and produces 935 pound-feet of torque. Its unique inverse-flow configuration allows a large single turbocharger mount closer to exhaust manifolds for faster air displacement and more power.
Featuring strong gears, the Ford TorqShift® SelectShift® 6-speed automatic transmission can easily handle the heavy torque demands of the turbo diesel and gas engines. It requires fewer rpm because its torque converter locks up at lower speeds. It also includes Progressive Range Select plus Full Manual. It also prevents upshifting and gaining speed when going downhill, reduces gear hunting going uphill and reduces brake pressure. It comes standard on the F-250 diesel, F-350 and F-450 models.
